What is Naturopathic Medicine?
Naturopaths are licensed primary care physicians that diagnose a wide spectrum of illnesses, provide physical exams, run diagnostic testing, order appropriate x-rays/imaging and treat patients by using natural modalities. Such modalities as herbal medicine, clinical nutrition, homeopathy, physical medicine, therapeutic injections, bio-identical hormone replacement, counseling, hydrotherapy, and prescription pharmacology when needed. They choose treatment based on the individual patient, not on the generality of symptoms.
Treatments chosen are based on Naturopathic philosophy and principles such as:- The Healing Power of Nature
- Identify and Treat the Cause
- First Do No Harm
- Doctor As Teacher
- Treat the Whole Person
- Prevention
